Hobbies and Jobs

In some email I exchanged this evening, I mentioned something about VoIP simply being a “hobby” of mine. The response I got back was interesting: hobbies have a way of becoming full-time jobs. At least in my life, this statement has been true at least once. phoneboy.com itself (the maintenance and generating the content) has been more or less a “hobby” from day one. I do very similar work for my employer, though because it’s a large company, every aspect of the “project” is larger — large enough that I can’t wear all the hats like I do with phoneboy.com.
