A Mommy-Free Weekend

For the first time, my wife decided to “take the weekend off” and leave me with both kids until Sunday night. She did leave for one weekend evening one other time a few months back, but a weekend is slightly different. It’s actually a hard thing for my wife to do. Probably some inborn guilt or something. Whatever. I think it’s great she’s doing it.

I remember trying to encourage something similar shortly after Jaden was born. She just couldn’t bring herself to do it. I remember that during the move from Spokane to Port Orchard, she had a hard time leaving Jaden with her parents for an overnight. It was a necessity because we were moving and needed the time to finish packing and cleaning up.

Meanwhile, we’ll have fun this weekend one way or another. Hopefully the nice weather we’ve been having will stick around.
