[...] Check Point also inherits the famous Phoneboy of FW-1 FAQ fame (which is now found at CPUG.org). He has been an amazing contributor to Check Point and Nokia operators so it’s good all around that he ended up with a job at Check Point. I’ve been following his blog and twitter account lately as not only does he write interesting articles, but he seemed to have the latest scoop on the acquisition (perhaps more than he could share online).
Hello,

Even I have been working for Nokia IP Security division around 18 months in Hyderabad,India. I have been into ERB-QA. May I know into which division you have been working in Nokia? The contract has been terminated because of this transition.

Bye,
Chris.

While it took a bit, it is still a odd end for IPSILON. When Nokia bought it in 1997, the platform found a home as a firewall appliance using Check Point. Check Point was then a little known company and grew into a giant.

Won't it be funny if the appliances found their way back to being switches and routers? The day for IP forwarding has come and Check Point has acquired the software to do it. They have the marketing skills to do it so the only question that remains is if they will go forward. After all, Cisco is trying to cut into the security business with ASA and their own version of Night Ranger IDS/IPS.

This should be fun.
