Nokia To Acquire Plazes

Filed under: Services, nokia, software - 23 Jun 2008 1:11

This just came across my Nokia email this morning: Nokia is acquiring Berlin-based Plazes, which appears to be yet another social network that focuses on location. One thing that Plazes has going for it off the bat is SMS support in 6 countries, including the U.S., which is cool.

I guess it’s public knowledge because Google was able to dig up a press release about it. Doesn’t say much other than the acquisition is taking place. Edit: There’s now a post on the Plazes blog about it.

In any case, I will be digging into Plazes to see how it compares with everything else I currently use: Twitter, Jaiku, Facebook, and Plurk.
