Download Firefox 3.0, Help Set A World Record

Download Day 2008Quite honestly, I’m not sure what the point of setting a world record for downloading software is, but hey, I’m game.

The folks at Mozilla are trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records by getting as many people as possible to download Firefox 3.0 on the 17th of June, 2008. Go to their site, pledge your support (if you haven’t already), and when the software goes live, download to your hearts content!

I wonder how many copies I will download tomorrow. I use at least a half dozen computers in my house on three different operating systems.

Firefox 3.0 is definitely better than Firefox 2.0, which I found frequently would keel over with excessive use. I have scaled back the use of extensions as I have found many of them to cause stability issues.

one of my boxes is partitioned with eight different flavors of linux. i will certainly keep the servers busy downloading. on second though once i have the .tar and windows installer i can distribute via my local net without hogging comcasts bandwidth. the real question do they have the bandwidth to allow for a record?
