VoicePulse and Libretel

VoicePulse, one of the early consumer-level VoIP services, now offers local numbers in the San Francisco Bay Area, Oregon, and a few other locations. Read more in this Voxilla story. Even today, VoicePulse is still considered one of the major feature leaders in the consumer-level VoIP market.

Libretel, one of Jeff Pulver’s companies, is now offering incoming telephone numbers along the East Coast of the US, Israel, and the UK (local rate numbers at that!). These numbers, available for a low monthly fee, currently will map to a Free World Dialup number. A number from Libretel along with a place that lets you make cheap VoIP to PSTN calls, and you’ve got complete connectivity to the PSTN for next to nothing.
