GrandCentral Now Part of Google?
According to Michael Arrington over at TechCrunch, Google is to acquire GrandCentral. The URL to the story says $50 million USD, which is chump change to Google, but the story text says they are trying to confirm the exact price. He also thinks the acquisition has already happened.
I do have to wonder about the implications of Google knowing who calls me and when. Heck, they already know a ton about me, based on the searches I do and the fact that all my personal email goes through them. I suppose I can take some solace in the fact that there’s so much data there that I’m just part of the white noise.
If this is true, of course, I hope Google will continue to listen to the users of GrandCentral, whom have done quite a bit to identify issues and suggest new features. Google’s idea of “customer service” is a joke. It certainly hasn’t been a weak point of GrandCentral, at least in my experience.
In any case, I am happy that Vincent and Craig are getting a payout. Pretty quick to get one, if it’s trust, but it’s better now than later, if you ask me.

It will be interesting to see if Google will play some sort of role regarding GC and the iPhone. All your base are belong to us…resistance is futile…(fill-in your fav. sci-fi ‘global domination’ reference here)
