Enjoying Peace and Quiet in Helsinki

Normally when I am out and about, particularly by myself, I make a point of listening to podcasts and the like. This week, there has been a confluence of events that have made me "take a break" from it:

1. Most of the podcasts I listen to come from TWIT.tv. Leo Laporte was having some issues with the machines that serve up the feeds, so I didn't have nearly the same amount of content available.

2. The WiFi in my hotel has been, well, not broadband speeds. That and I think there's been some other issues with either port blocking, DNS, or what-have-you. They were causing some of the issues I was having with SightSpeed. Peter, Aron, and their team at SightSpeed helped try and figure out what the issues were, but it looks like they were "temporary" problems with the broadband. sigh

3. GRPS roaming rates are usurious. I've been using my share of it while I've been here for certain (for mobile email and the like) but downloading possibly hundreds of megabytes of podcasts just seems "over the top" to me. My employer pays, but still.

I would say the "peace and quiet" I've experienced as a result of not listening to so many podcasts has been nice. It's something I should do every once in a while.

I've also been light on commenting on what the rest of the blogosphere has been up to. I've been keeping up on reading, but I just haven't had the energy for writing, at least at my usual pace. Heck, last night I went to bed at nearly 10pm, which is something I almost never do.

Meanwhile, I'm sure I will return to my normal pace when I get back to the states. In the meantime, I will be enjoying the relative peace and quiet here in Finland.
